Z ′ Bosons and Supersymmetry 1

چکیده

A broad class of supersymmetric extensions of the standard model predict a Z ′ vector boson whose mass is naturally in the range 250 GeV<MZ′<2 TeV. To avoid unacceptably large mixing with the Z, one requires either a discrete tuning of the U(1) charges or a leptophobic Z . Both cases are likely to arise as the low energy limits of heterotic string compactifications, but a survey of existing realistic string models provides no acceptable examples. A broken U(1) leads to additional D-term contributions to squark, slepton, and Higgs masses, which depend on the U(1) charge assignments and the Z ′ mass. The Tevatron and future colliders can discover or decisively rule out this class of models. 1 To appear in the Proceedings of the 1996 DPF/DPB Summer Study on New Directions for High Energy Physics (Snowmass 96), Snowmass CO, June 25 July 12, 1996. Higgs and Z-boson Signatures of Supersymmetry

In supersymmetric theories of nature the Higgsino fermionic superpartner of the Higgs boson can arise as the lightest standard model superpartner depending on the couplings between the Higgs and supersymmetry breaking sectors. In this letter the production and decay of Higgsino pairs to the Goldstone fermion of supersymmetry breaking and the Higgs boson, h, or gauge bosons, Z or γ are considere...

The Physics of New U(1)′ Gauge Bosons

Additional Z′ gauge bosons are predicted by a wide variety of extensions of the standard model (SM). Possibilities include TeV-scale bosons with electroweak coupling, very light bosons which nearly decouple from the standard model particles, and bosons which communicate with a quasi-hidden sector. A broad survey is given of the theoretical possibilities and of the physics implications for parti...

The Light Higgsino-Gaugino Window

Supersymmetric models are typically taken to have p parameter and all soft supersymmetry breaking parameters at or near the weak scale. We point out that a small window of allowed values exists in which ~1 and the electroweak gaugino masses are in the few GeV range. Such models naturally solve the supersymmetry CP problem, can reduce the discrepancy in &,, and suppress proton decay. In this win...

Extended Gauge Sectors at Linear Colliders * †

Signatures of extended gauge models at high energy ee linear colliders are summarized. The phenomenology of models with extended gauge symmetries is particularly rich. The existence of new gauge bosons is one of the hallmarks of extended electroweak theories and their discovery would be a definitive signal for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). However, extra gauge bosons are not the sole ...

Searches for electroweak neutralino and chargino production in channels with Higgs, Z, and W bosons in pp collisions at 8 TeV

Searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) are presented based on the electroweak pair production of neutralinos and charginos, leading to decay channels with Higgs, Z, andW bosons and undetected lightest SUSY particles (LSPs). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 19.5 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV collected in 2012 with the CMS detector...

New Gauge Bosons from String Models ∗

We address the mass ranges of new neutral gauge bosons and constraints on the accompanying exotic particles as predicted by a class of superstring models. Under certain assumptions about the supersymmetry breaking parameters we show that breaking of an additional U(1)′ symmetry is radiative when the appropriate Yukawa couplings of exotic particles are of order one, analogous to the radiative br...
